3 Ways to Have Fun Spending That Well Earned Savings

Throughout life, the need for currency has always been an annoying fact that we have to divert much of our life to the pursuit of. Well, we do if we want to have access to the material privileges of life, anyway. In that pursuit, one of the hardest things to do seems to be to save.

We save money for all kinds of reasons. Some save so they can afford to buy their family nice Christmas gifts. Some save for emergencies such as an injury at work, having to replace a car, or repairs to their home after a storm.

Others save just for that rainy day where they can disappear from reality for a while. Below are a few ideas on how to take that rainy day fund and have a blast spending it.

Go Base Jumping

Ok. Let’s just get crazy for a minute here! How many of you are addicted to adrenaline? Do you love tempting the fates? How about making those around you cover their eyes in fear for your safety? Base jumping will satisfy all of the above. BASE is short for Buildings, Antennas, Spans and Earth.

It’s not just dangerous, it’s illegal in some places. Jumping from heights only 2,000ft above the ground or less, you only have seconds to enjoy the drop and then deploy your parachute. The chute itself will cost you between 1,200 and 1,500 dollars.

Then there is another $400 to hire a guide and secure the location. Not to mention your expenses for travel to and from and eats and a place to stay, if you go out of town. Also, make sure to video your experience so you can retain and share that memory for years to come. A helmet cam will cost you another $350-$500. The thrill is well worth it!

Take A Trip

The next idea could be considered a common one. It depends on where you plan to go. You could plan a destination down the street, out state or country, or even off the planet. Sometimes, we just need a break from the routine. A weekend at a local hotel will give you the peace and quiet you need with a small change of scenery.

It will even save you a few dollars, because of that fact that it’s so close to home. Some of us need a little more space. A trip out of state is a great option. There are so many wonderful historical places and sites to see just in the U.S., that it would probably take your entire lifetime to visit and enjoy them all.

Then, there are those of us that have the need to stretch our wings to the outermost boundaries of the planet. With the invention of space travel, we were introduced to the possibility that our dreams of walking on the moon could be a reality.

Unfortunately, the reality of space travel has only experienced by about 560 people in 5 decades, until now. Take that pile of cash and fulfill your dream of becoming a real-life astronaut. Be prepared, though. Tourist seats to space run anywhere from $75,000-$2,000,000 a seat.

Buy Christmas For Every Child On The Angel Tree

There is no better fun than that of bringing a smile to the face of another human being. Christmas is a great time to plan such an endeavour. The Angel Tree program is a program provided by Prison Fellowship that provides Christmas presents for the children of mothers and fathers in prison.

Unfortunately, we all make mistakes. Some of those mistakes lead us to prison. In the wake of this disaster, there are family members and friends that suffer with the inmate as he/she is locked away and can no longer participate in events like the Holidays.

If you’re the type of person that gets the ultimate satisfaction out of helping others, and we all should, take that rainy day fund, grab every star on the Angel Tree and go to town making Christmas memories for children of inmates in your local community.

In a world that concentrates so much on saving, sometimes we forget that this life is temporary. Take the time to enjoy your hard earn work and savings. Spend a little!
